  • Making sense of your material. We take your raw materials, either already existing or produced together—think interviews, podcast episodes, newsletters, talks, workshops—and we use AI to help transcribe, organize, and surface the through-lines faster.

    Handling the heavy lifting. Wrangling content, first-pass structure, formatting, and other time-consuming groundwork.

    Exploring options. Outlines, titles, and angles worth considering—each one chosen and refined by a person, not shipped as-is.

  • Every workflow is carefully managed by a professional. No “set it and forget it” here. This is dynamic, nuanced work. The tools just help us make big moves faster.

    Every word is reviewed by a professional. Nothing reaches your readers without being read, rewritten, and approved by our editorial team.

    Voice and judgment are human calls. Story decisions, tone, nuance, and taste come from people who do this for a living.

    No slop. If we wouldn't proudly put our own name on it, it doesn't ship.

  • You own your book. Everything we create for you is yours, in full. All ideas originate from you and your human collaborators, and all content passes through human hands multiple times.

    Your material stays confidential. Any AI we use runs in private, professional-grade tools configured so your content isn’t used to train public models. Generation is minimal and happens in closed sandboxes—the ideas and how they’re expressed originate with human experts and are revised by human editors.

    We’re transparent. Want to know exactly where AI did—or didn’t—play a role in your project? Just ask. We’ll always tell you.

  • Not a chance. Your book is written and shaped by human experts and revised by human editors—AI never gets the final word.

    Further, all workflows were designed by seasoned editing, ghostwriting, and publishing vets. We know what slop looks like, and we know how to protect against it. Simply put: let the tool sort and assemble, and let the humans cook.

There’s a lot of noise out there about AI and writing. Our take is simple: used well, it’s a powerful assistant in the organization, curation, and assembly process. Used carelessly, it’s a fast way to produce forgettable books.

At Cape & Cowl, our basic approach is curated, not generated. We use AI to assist our team, never to replace it. Every book we touch is shaped, edited, and finished by experienced humans. Every workflow we run, we write ourselves—bringing nearly twenty years of industry experience and insight to the process.

Most importantly, we only use content specifically produced by you and intended for your manuscript—interviews, podcasts, workshops, newsletters, etc.

Prefer to keep AI out of it entirely?

Just say the word. If you’d rather we not use AI at all when assisting you with your manuscript, we’ll honor that. Your manuscript will be handled start to finish by human hands. (We may still use AI for behind-the-scenes business tasks like scheduling and admin, but never on your book itself.)
